The 10 Most Popular Recipes in September

Picking apples, carving pumpkins, and raking leaves are probably things you associate with fall, but you forgot the most important one: pasta. As the weather cools down, we gravitate toward comfort food, and in September readers were cooking everything from baked spaghetti pie to noodles with a creamy lemon sauce. Among the most popular recipes from the month were also cheesy chicken and fried Thai ribs from Chrissy Teigen's new cookbook, and a few easy weeknight ideas from the Basically 10x10 challenge. Check them all out below, and then do yourself a favor and buy a box of pasta.

    8. Caramelized Zucchini Flatbread

    The secret to a flatbread with a super-crunchy crust? Pre-roasting all of the veggies. This step concentrates their flavor, and also helps to cook out some of their moisture, which would otherwise soak into the crust. This is great with zucchini, but you can schmear ricotta on a thin crust and top with any vegetables you like.

    This simple sauce of juicy, bursty cherry tomatoes (aka nature’s Gushers) comes together in around 15 minutes. It is more of a summery recipe, so if you can’t find good cherry tomatoes, substitute with chunks of larger ones.

    Crusty, juicy sliced steak + a fully-loaded salad = what we want to eat most nights of the week, TBH. This Basically 10x10 recipe will teach you how to sear a steak, make a zippy shallot vinaigrette, and dress a salad. Make a double batch of vinaigrette to use on more simple salads, grain bowls, and all kinds of cooked meats.

    4. Crispy Roasted Broccoli with Tahini Sauce

    This is another one from Basically 10x10, and it will teach you how to roast broccoli until it is crispy on the edges and tender inside. The simplest, throw-together tahini sauce makes a platter of roasted broccoli feel a lot more special so you can actually get excited about roasted veg.

    3. Baked Pasta alla Norma

    Cheesy, saucy baked pasta is even more fun when you can slice it into wedges. The “alla norma” part of the recipe is made by roasting eggplant, cherry tomatoes, and smashed garlic in a big skillet. As for the carbs? Spaghetti, bucatini, rigatoni—if it’s pasta, it works for this recipe.
